Nas Filho

The Fall, 2025 Nas Filho

For Contact 2026, I'm presenting the Series Semiotics an interpretation of the subconscious language of dreams. Through black and white photographs, translating personal experiences as fear, claustrophobia, abandonment and as well moments of peace and love.

Created throughout 2025 and early 2026, this work draws from surrealism and still life photography. Each photograph features crafted sculptures and arranged objects, transforming intangible emotions and mental health struggles into art form.

Ultimately, this series is an invitation for the viewers to experience my attempt to translate my own subconscious imagery. I hope to create with this series a resonant space where everyone can confront the universal, often wordless emotions that shape our dreams, bringing connection through this shared human experience.

Nas is a photographer based in Toronto, whose signature black and white imagery captures the raw essence of contemporary life.

A member of Gallery 44 since 2019 his work has evolved from street photography to a more introspective visual language, inviting conversations about pressing societal issues such as depression, the cost of living, affordable housing, and mental health. His work is an engagement with human nature, reflecting the struggles of modern society.
